Huge Red Drum Takes Top Prize

We had an awesome awards party Sunday evening, where we gave away our top prizes and celebrated the unbelievable turn out and fundraising done through this year’s Red Drum Rodeo! The winner of the 2017 Red Drum Rodeo was Mike Timm, who caught a Red Drum measuring 116 cm (45.67 inches).

Second Place went to Kevin Leeber, who also had the Red Drum with the most spots (Eight Spots), so he walked away with $1,000 and a brand new fly rod.

In the Junior Angler Division, Jack Limroth backed up his claims and came away with a 109 cm Red Drum, while Sara Bimson was right on his heels at 108 cm.

In all, the tournament was a huge success, and we can not say thank you enough to everyone that participated. We had over 100 people at the awards party, 108 fishermen, 16 boats, and 23 unbelievable sponsors. We will continue posting more photos of this year’s even in the coming days, and look forward to seeing you all next year at the 2018 Red Drum Rodeo!

Big Fish Come On Down

We are getting the fish pictures coming in now, and by the looks of them, the bull drums are most certainly out there for the catching! It looks like whoever gets the top prize for the tournament will be in the citation range for the state, so we are excited to see just how big we can get!

Rules Update & Red Drum Rodeo featured in The Pilot

Virg Pilot Logo

We were excited to see the write up local fishing legend Lee Tolliver had on the Red Drum Rodeo this week, you can see it and the rest of his fishing forecast below!

Pilot Online Article Link

Lee says the drum fishing season is really taking off, and we are looking forward to having everyone prove him right next week as people reel in some big bull drum!

We also have a rules update that came about after speaking with more of the local fishing experts. You can find more on the Rules & Regulations tab, but we have decided that each angler may have three lines in the water at any one time, giving everyone a greater chance at landing the big drum. We are excited to make this change, because at the root of it all we want to make this tournament as fun and competitive experience for all fishermen, and are always open to feedback as we work to make this the largest drum tournament on the East Coast!

That’s all for now, I hope everyone is getting excited, gassing up their boats, and looking forward to a week of beautiful weather and fun times out on the water, not to mention some record setting drum!

Josh & Duff On The Tide 102.1

One Month Away

We are just one month out from this year’s Red Drum Rodeo, and while we have a great line up of sponsors we are still looking for more. Without these sponsors, this event would not be possible, and we greatly appreciate any and all participation in this unbelievable event!

Also, a reminder that you have just over two more weeks to sign up your boat at the reduced rate of $250! This is a great deal, as this year’s boat buckets are better than ever before thanks to many of our Bucket Sponsors!
